what we do

In 2006, 5 million children died on the African continent before reaching their fifth birthday, an average of nearly 14,000 a day.

Many of these children die of preventable and curable diseases, including Malaria, Diarrhea and Pneumonia - illnesses that thrive in poor communities where sanitation is severely compromised, and where residents are often undernourished and exposed to pollution. Another major killer is AIDS.

a few words about us

The trustees of Black Diamond Trust

We believe that every child should be valued equally, regardless of race, colour or circumstance. For every child is "A treasure beyond all measure".

Our History

Black Diamond Trust was conceived from the desire of 6 African women, resident in the U.K to make a conscious change in the lives of underprivileged children in developing countries, particularly within Africa.

Despite the vast natural beauty of many developing countries, due to the immense poverty of the countries and thus of its indigenous inhabitants, such countries are often deemed to be of little or no value by developed countries.

In the arena of diamonds, black diamonds are generally considered to be of the least value and looked upon as far less precious than their counterparts.

Unfortunately, the same connotation can be attributed to children in developing countries, where in Africa alone a child dies every 3 seconds from preventable causes; whilst the world at large sits back and watches.

Black Diamond Trust fundamentally believes that every child should be valued equally, regardless of race, colour or circumstance. For every child is “A treasure beyond all measure”.
