Children in Nigeria

A lot remains to be done to overcome the significant problems that still confront Nigerian children.

An estimated 2.9 million Nigerians (mostly females) are living with HIV/AIDS. The epidemic is also increasing the population of orphans in the country, which is already estimated at 7 million.

Nigeria's education system is also in a state of neglect largely due to decaying institutional infrastructure.

Children Of Promise Ministries, Nigeria

Children of Promise Ministries (CHIPROM) is a Christ centered, non denominational youth and children organization assisting in raising underprivileged African children in a home environment that promotes love, understanding, respect and nurturing under Christian ethics and moral guidance.

The home is set up to provide accommodation for up to 24 children including 4 infants. CHIPROM is currently negotiating to bring in children that critically need the organizations services. In addition to the programs run at the home, they are open to situations where they may need to support a child within an established community outreach program.

Working closely with CHIPROM, BDT will focus on the provision of academic materials and the financial cost of sponsoring one child in the community
