Children in Zambia

Zambia has been very hard hit by HIV/AIDS; and more than 30,000 children are born HIV-positive each year.
More than 20 per cent of Zambian children have lost one or both parents to HIV/AIDS. Households with widows and orphans often lack the resources to cultivate sufficient food.
Zambia's health-care system faces shortages of drugs, equipment and qualified personnel, especially in rural areas.
a few words about us
We believe that every child should be valued equally, regardless of race, colour or circumstance. For every child is "A treasure beyond all measure".
Tigwilizane Women Foundation, Zambia
Tigwilizane Women Foundation (Which means let us come together/ let us help) is a community based organisation committed to rural based self help projects.
They are currently involved in encouraging rural women to be computer literate, promoting the development of young girls through information, education and communicating to the communities on the dangers and prevention of HIV/AIDS.
Black Diamond Trust and Tigwilizane are currently raising funds to open an orphanage providing care facilities for 60 orphaned children.
The orphanage will house an in-house clinic, a school, a counselling room, and a library to help develop reading skills in the children. There will also be a chapel with a piano to help encourage a Christian faith in the children.
